- 2022 - India defeated Australia by six wickets in the second T20I to level the three-match series. Australia put up a total of 90/5 after the match was reduced to eight overs/per side, amid a wet outfield. India chased down the target in 7.2 overs. Indian captain Rohit Sharma broke the world record for most sixes in T20I cricket in this match.

He was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India from Outer Delhi as a member of the Indian National Congress but resigned from the party's primary membership after he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in a case relating to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

- 1996 - Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati popularly known as Silk Smitha, was an Indian actress and dancer who worked predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films. She debuted as a supporting actress in the 1979 Tamil film Vandichakkaram where she played the role of a character called "Silk". In a career spanning 17 years, she appeared in over 450 films.
