2022
- Pro-Kabaddi League (PKL) season 9 starts on 7th October. This season events will take place in Bengaluru, Pune & Hyderabad.
- Pakistan defeated India by 13 runs in their Women's Asia Cup T20 2022 match on 7th October 2022. Pakistan put up a total of 137/6 and dismissed India for 124. This is the first time in more than six years that Pakistan has defeated India in women's international cricket. Further, it is India's first defeat in the Women's Asia Cup T20 2022.

- 2019 - Afghan Taliban frees three hostage Indian Engineers in exchange for their Top 11 militant members with India.

Famous birthdays on 7th October
- 1978 - Zaheer Khan is an Indian former cricketer who played all forms of the game for the Indian national team from 2000 till 2014. He was the second-most successful Indian pace bowler in Test cricket, behind Kapil Dev. Khan started his domestic career by playing for Baroda. Khan was selected as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2008. Zaheer Khan announced his retirement from international cricket in October 2015.
- 1974 - Jambey Tashi was an Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Arunachal Pradesh, serving as the MLA of the 1-Lumla constituency. He was also a Member of the National Minority Morcha, BJP. Tashi had previously been a member of the Indian National Congress and People's Party of Arunachal. He dies on 2nd November 22 following an illness at the age of 48.
- 1914 - Begum Akhtar or Akhtari Bai Faizabadi (Mustri Bai), was an Indian actress and singer. Dubbed "Mallika-e-Ghazal" (Queen of Ghazals), she is regarded as one of the greatest singers of ghazal, Dadra, and thumri genres of Hindustani classical music. Akhtar received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1972) for vocal music, and was awarded Padma Shri(1968) and later, Padma Bhushan(1975), posthumously by the government of India. She died at the age of 60 on 30th October 1974.
