2019 - With All Nippon Airways (ANA) launch of direct flight between Tokyo to Chennai, Chennai became the first South Indian city to get direct connectivity to Japan. Over all Chennai became the 3rd city in India to have direct flight connectivity between India and Japan after Delhi and Mumbai.
2019 - 1985-batch Indian Police Service Officer Anup Kumar Singh appointed as the new Director General of National Security Guard (NSG) from October 28 2019.

'Roy Villa' in Darjeeling, where Sister Nivedita breathed her last, was handed over to Ramakrishna Mission in 2014. In 2017, Mamata Banerjee unveiled a Heritage Blue Plaque at Sister Nivedita's home in London. (died on 13th October 1911).
