The most beautiful, glamorous, ravishing actor of Bollywood, Aishwarya Rai bachchan turned 40 today. Aishwarya born on November 1, 1973, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is often referred as the most beautiful woman on the planet.

Aishwarya born in an ethnic Bunt family in Mangalore, Karnataka. Her father, Krishnaraj, was a marine biologist, while her mother, Brindya, is a housewife. She has one elder brother, Aditya Rai, who is an engineer in the merchant navy. Aishwarya along with her family moved to Mumbai, where she attended the Arya Vidya Mandir High School. Rai did her intermediate schooling at Jai Hind College for a year and then joined DG Ruparel College. She took training in classical dance and music for five years during her teens. Aishwarya first wanted to pursue career in medicine, then diverted to become an architect, she enrolled at Raheja College, but later gave up her education to pursue a career in modelling. In 1991, Aishwarya Rai won her first modeling contest (organised by Ford) and was eventually featured in the American edition of Vogue.

In 1993, Rai gained public recognition for her appearance in a Pepsi commercial with actor Aamir Khan. In the year 1994, Miss India contest, she won second place, behind Sushmita Sen, and was crowned Miss India World. She also won the "Miss Photogenic" award and Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty − Asia & Oceania.

Ash began her film journey with Tamil film Irruvar 1997. Aishwarya debuted in Bollywood with "Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya" in 1998. Aishwarya got her recognition as an actor from films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Taal, Devdas, Chokher Bali, Dhoom:2,Guru, Guzaarish etc. Apart from films, the gorgeous actor has been the face of various brands such as Longines , L’OrĂ©al, Coca-Cola, Lakme, Philips, Lux, Fuji films, Nakshatra, Kalyan Jewellers and Prestige. Ash was also appointed as the new international Goodwill Ambassador for UN AIDS, the joint United Nations program on AIDS and HIV. Aishwarya is also the first actor to be selected as the Global brand ambassador, she was the Global brand Ambassador of L'oreal. Recently Priyanka Chopra has been chosen to be the Global Brand Ambassador of Fashion Brand Guess.

Aishwarya Rai married to Abhishek Bachchan in the year 2007 in a private ceremony . Rai gave birth to a baby girl on 16 November 2011 and later named her Aaradhya.
