The Grand Finale of the FBB Femina Miss India 2016 beauty pageant held at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai and the event was a star-studded one with many Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan.

Priyadarshini Chatterjee from Guwahati, Assam, has won the Miss India pageant 2016 and was crowned the winner. Sushruthi Krishna has crowned the runner up of the most coveted beauty pageant of India, while Pankhuri Gidwani became the second runner up. Chatterjee will now represent India at the International platform of Miss World 2016, while Krishna will be eligible to take part in Miss International 2016, and Gidwani will take part in Miss Grand International beauty pageant 2016.

Sushruthi Krishna is from Mumbai while Gidwani hails from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The top 5 finalists also included Navpreet Kaur and Roshmitha Harimurthy. The two girls might not have got the chance to wear the coveted crown, but they sure got to dance with India’s biggest Bollywood star, Shah Rukh Khan. All the top 5 finalists were asked the same question: ‘What are the qualities of a Miss India, and why do you think you should be crowned the next Miss India 2016? The winning answer, that of Priyadarshini Chatterjee was: ‘Miss India should be true to herself, she should have a personality to reflect who she is. My personality reflects that and that is why I should be the next Miss India.’
The jury included Sanjay Dutt, Yami Gautam, Arjun Kapoor, Kabir Khan, Amy Jackson, Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna, tennis player Sania Mirza, Ekta Kapoor, designers Manish Malhotra and Shane Peacock.
Chatterjee is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at Hindu College, Delhi and is an alumnus of Maria Public School, Guwahati. She is a freelance model, with interests in dance, theatre, travelling and trekking.
The show was hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and Manish Paul.
